The Verreaux's Eagles of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden, South Africa
This LIVE camera is dedicated to the study of wild Black Eagles in Roodekrans - Johannesburg - South Africa. This latest conservation project focuses on the ambitious task of capturing the Black Eagles' reproductive cycle as they attempt to raise a new chick. What makes it so ambitious is that this pair's nest is embedded in the sheer face of a 50-metre-high cliff. Bringing these images to your computer screens requires not only the use of revolutionary technology, but also an installation team complete with experienced climbers.
The Black Eagle Cam 2016 has added quality diffusion and glare reduction. New infrared LED lights offer night vision to see the family 24 hours a day. Plus, an omnidirectional microphone captures ambient sound, the massive waterfall adjacent to the nest and, hopefully, the high-pitched calls of the black eagle.
